Information for Injured Workers Trial

General Practitioners (GPs) play a key role in assisting injured workers within the Western Australian workers’ compensation and injury management scheme.

GPs are one of the first scheme participants approached by injured workers and this early interaction provides an avenue for WorkCover WA to provide injured workers with important information in a timely fashion.

WorkCover WA’s Information for Injured Workers Trial will involve GPs at six medical practices across the metropolitan region distributing new WorkCover WA communication materials to injured workers during consultations.

The new WorkCover WA communication materials are designed to:

  • educate injured workers about the process of making a workers’ compensation claim;
  • provide details on the information sources available to assist them; and
  • reinforce important messages regarding the health benefits of an early return to work.

The trial will run for a period of three months from 13 April 2015 to 3 July 2015. Following the trial period, WorkCover WA will compile feedback from the GPs to evaluate the success of the trial.
